7 AI Tips for Business Owners in 2026

Abdo Samy helping a business owner set up AI at their laptop

These AI tips for business owners are the seven habits I teach every client, from CEOs running multi-brand groups to finance teams buried in reports. Most people use AI like a search box. The Australian small business owners getting real results treat it like a new team member. These habits are the core of my approach.

“I just go to Claude instead of my mail. It's the new habit.”

Andrew Parke, CEO, The Mr Group

Stop typing. Start talking.

Turn on dictation (the microphone button) and speak to AI the way you'd brief a friend over coffee. You'll give it five times more detail in half the time, and detail is what turns a generic answer into a brilliant one.

This is not voice chat where AI talks back. It's you talking, AI writing it down. Both Apple dictation on Mac and voice typing on Windows are built in and free.

“The best thing out there is just talking. That's just changed everything.”

Simon, Prolific Stone

Give AI a home: one Claude Project, one folder

Create a Project in Claude (or ChatGPT) and link it to a folder on your computer. Everything in that folder (price lists, proposals, SOPs) becomes context AI can use in every chat.

No more re-explaining your business every Monday morning. Want a head start? Grab my free Claude setup kit.

Let it interview you first

Before you ask for anything, tell it:

“Build a full structure for my work. Ask me about my business and my life, I'll tell you everything. Then show me how to use you better.”

Ten minutes of questions saves you hundreds of bad answers later.

Write your rules down once

Ask AI to keep a rules file in your folder: how you like reports, the tone you use, the mistakes to avoid. Then tell it to log every decision and the reason behind it.

Every new chat starts smarter than the last one. Your business knowledge stops living only in your head. Once a routine repeats, you can package it as a reusable Claude skill.

Teach it your voice with real conversations

Export a few WhatsApp or email threads with your customers and add them to the Project. Ask: “Learn my personality and the way I talk.”

Drafts stop sounding like a robot and start sounding like you.

“I just can't believe what it can do.”

Janet, Finance, The Mr Group

One chat per job, same Project

New task? New chat, same Project. Long chats get slower, burn through your usage and mix up topics. Short chats inside one Project keep all the context and none of the clutter.

Got any question at all, big or small? Send it to that same Project.

Make it check its own work

For anything big, ask for a plan first and approve it before AI starts. When it's done, ask: “Review this before you tell me it's finished. How did you test it?”

You stop being the proofreader and become the decision maker.

“It's the time that it saves you... it's been able to predict things and suggest things, and the speed that it can do so. It's insane.”

The real result

These habits are simple, but they compound. Claude for business owners works best when it is part of the daily routine. One CEO I work with now runs his day from Claude.
